In a rural community outside Siem Reap, children come to learn English, play, and build the skills they need for life.
Basic to intermediate English, taught consistently so students can speak, read, and find better work.
Teamwork, discipline, and confidence built through movement and play every week.
Communication, hygiene, and self-awareness. Practical things students carry with them for life.
Savong Education is a community-based school in rural Cambodia. We provide free English classes, sports, and practical life skills for children who would otherwise have no access to them.
Most of our students come from families with very little. Our job is straightforward: give them skills they can use.
We are not a large organization. No complex systems, no outside management. We teach, we show up, and we keep the doors open every single day.
Support a Student"A student who learns English, plays, and builds confidence has a completely different future."— Savong Education, Prasat Bakong, Siem Reap
Director · Sole Sponsor · Siem Reap Local
When the previous founder closed Savong School, the children of Prasat Bakong had nowhere to go. Vong Svay decided to do something about it.
A small business owner from Siem Reap, Vong had no prior connection to the school. He heard what had happened, stepped in, and has been funding and running it out of his own pocket ever since. No grants. No organization behind him.
Today he serves as Director and remains the school's only financial backer. The school is open because of him.
Basic to intermediate English, taught in small groups. Students learn to speak, read, and write at their own pace.
Kids need to move. Sports give them an outlet, a reason to come back, and something to work toward together.
Practical things school doesn't always teach. Habits and awareness that stay with students as they get older.
Without school, most of these children have nowhere to go during the day and no clear path forward. Job options are limited. Options, full stop, are limited.
A few hours of English per week changes what is possible for a child here. It is not complicated.
Every class, every game, every conversation in English adds up. We have watched it happen.
Savong Education is open to volunteers from anywhere in the world. If you have a week, two weeks, or longer, come and teach. The students are eager, the team is welcoming, and the work is straightforward.
No teaching degree needed. If you can speak English and show up on time, we can work with you.
Send us a message with a bit about yourself and when you are available. We will get back to you within a few days.
The school is in Prasat Bakong, about 25km from Siem Reap town. We can help point you toward local accommodation.
Meet the students, get a feel for the classroom, and start. There is no complicated onboarding process.
Come and teach. Even a short visit makes a difference to students who don't often meet people from outside the community.
Get in touchHelp fund English classes, sports, or life skills sessions. Money given here goes to running costs, not administration.
Get in touchIf you represent an organisation and want to do something concrete in rural Siem Reap, we are open to talking.
Get in touchWe are a small team. We do not aim to be perfect. We teach, we show up, and we keep the school running. If you choose to support Savong Education, you are putting money directly into a child's week. That is what it comes down to.
